The Plan:
The students took their final Writing Warm-Up quiz today in class; however, they will continue to practice grammar skills throughout this quarter.Students will continue to learn about poetic devices and figurative language this week and next.They will spend a few days next week in the computer lab taking the end of the year Performance Test.The focus over the next couple of weeks will be on completing our Poetry Unit and preparing for the MAP test.
What is Happening:
Monday: Last Writing Warm-Up quiz in class today.
Tuesday: Poetry analysis in class. Vocabulary terms added and questions answered in study folder.
Wednesday: Poetry analysis in class. Vocabulary terms (figurative language, imagery, tone, similes, metaphores) added and questions answered about the poem "Fireworks" in study folder .
Thursday:Poetry analysis in class. Vocabulary terms (personification and idiom) added to study folder. Watched Brain Pop video on Idioms and homework given to bring in three idioms of their own tomorrow.
Friday: Students held Literature Circle discussions in class and began working on their Idiom Flip-Chart assignment.
