The students will begin a new unit over persuasion and
advertising on Monday of this week. They
were given the new study packet for their study folders last Friday in
class. During this unit, the students
will learn persuasive techniques and analyze commercials and ads for the use of
these specific techniques. If you have
extra magazines lying around your house that you would like to get rid of, I
will gladly take your donation to use them in class. Some examples that would be appropriate are: Ladies Home Journal, Redbook, Southern
Living, Better Homes and Gardens, Real Simple, Shape, Fitness, Golf Digest,
etc..
Students will be bringing home their third Writing Warm-Up
Packet this Tuesday for the quiz over this packet on Friday, October 18. I will hold the after-school extra study
session for this quiz on Thursday, October 17.
What is Happening:
Monday: - The class resumed its regular routine today with Writing Warm-Up Practice and Independent Reading with the log for the first part
- Students did an "I Think, We Think" strategy to get them thinking about the new unit over persuasive techniques used in advertising
- Student read the article on page one of their study folder in class
- Writing Warm-Up Quiz is this Friday
